September-October 2006 ~~~~~ Mazara Del Vallo 11-1-2006
Dear faithful brethren in Christ: Greetings from Mazara in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We thank our Heavenly Father for His limitless stores of wisdom and grace and His unfailing love that he freely gives to his people. There is a lot going on right now keeping up with things here and making preparations for our furlough. As we mentioned in our last letter, the Jordans will be filling in for us while we are gone, so I´ve been having him come in every month to preach in our services and get better acquainted with the people who God has given us to minister to. While they were here in September, we had a gathering at our church where we invited quite a few people. Anna and Vito were here, the Pipitones, Caterina(who we met at the fair) and her parents, Paolo and Ignazio, our neighbors the Giovaris, and other friends from Napoli. Some of these people are saved and some are not. Bro. Jordan gave his testimony that night and it had a good effect, particularly on Caterina who commented many times during the evening how glad she was to be there. The next evening, many of these people came to our Sunday night service in addition Pino and his wife. (this is Andrea Pipitone´s sister and her husband) This was their first time in church. We are sad to say that Caterina who had wanted to begin piano lessons with our daughter has shied away. From what we can gather, her parents have discouraged her from having anything to do with us. Please pray. Caterina was very interested in spiritual things and saw her need for the Lord. Anna has continued to grow in her new life in Christ. Her husband, Vito, has noticed big changes in her and is happy about it, reports Anna. We had asked you to pray that she would be a good testimony to him, so praise God for answered prayer. He was never willing go to any religious service with her in the past when she was involved with JW, Seventh Day Adventist, and the Catholic Church. But he has been coming to our church services with her just about every Sunday. Anna used to need medication to help her get to sleep at night, but now she says that she reads the Bible aloud to Vito before they go to bed and they both sleep really good. Anna continues doing the discipleship with Janet and is inviting all of her friends to church. Recently, she brought a friend over to our house named Francesca who had some questions on spiritual matters that we answered with the Bible. At a later point, Janet and I visited in her home and met her husband Salvatore. He is a fisherman and spends most of his time at sea coming home to land only about four days out of the month. He had some questions about what made us different from other religions which opened up a good conversation. Just a few days after our visit, they got in a very big fight; it got so bad that he threw a hot pizza in her face and burned her badly. These people need the Lord. Pray for their salvation. Continue to pray for Vito´s salvation as well. We have spend quite a bit of time in each other´s homes and have had meals together. We believe in time that this man will be saved. We have continued to go to the piazza near the seaport on Sunday nights after our evening service. This has been a good time to follow up on some of the young people who we had met during the fair who work at the sandwich truck there at the piazza. We have had more open doors with Paolo and Nicola. Continue to pray for their salvation. Paolo and Ignazio have been joining us there and often bring along a friend named Giovanni who is not saved. Pray for his salvation. Sometimes the teenage boy, Giovanni, who was saved at the fair is there with his friend Andrea. These two also showed up at our house one afternoon and Andrea got to hear the gospel that day. Just this past night at the piazza, we ran in to a brother named Onofrio Anzarti . He was saved quite awhile back and came to church for awhile and then stopped coming. He said that he would like to start attending services again; pray that he will. One day while in the computer store, I was talking to the owner, Massimo, about the things of the Lord and a police Inspector named Luigi Pecoraro came in who has known me for several years now. Even though this man is not saved, he reassured Massimo that the things that I was telling Massimo were the truth and he spoke well of what we are trying to do here and of our church. He says that he plans to come to our services sometime. Pray for the salvation of both of these men. Continue to pray for our neighbor girl, Valentina. She is trying to adjust to high school life and has come to our daughters a lot to talk with them about the different problems that she is having. They´ve been able to show her things from the Bible in response. We have known her since she was a little girl and have sown a lot of seed in her over the years. We really want to see her saved. Continue in prayer for her. We want to thank Mrs. Beebe and the Beebe Evangelistic Association which was founded by her deceased husband, Evangelist Walter Beebe. She asked us to translate one of her husband´s tracts into the Italian language which we have completed and in exchange they are providing full coverage for them to be printed here in Italy in whatever quantity we would need. The tract is entitled La Via Biblica Per Il Cielo, which translates The Biblical Way To Heaven. (Roman´s Road) On Nov.11, Bro. Jim Lassiter and his wife will be arriving here for a ten-day survey trip. You may remember this Brother´s name from awhile back. God has confirmed his call to Sicily and Bro. Jim believes that he is called to minister in the Agrigento area. Pray about our time together. They will be spending half of their time with us here in Mazara and the other half I will be taking them around Agrigento, Serradifalco and Catania area. To all of our supporters by now you should all have received a furlough visitation meeting date, there are still some that I haven´t received a response from. It would be very helpful if those who have not responded could get back to me so we can be as organized as possible. Thank you. Regarding our prayer-newsletter, we are in the process of switching as many letters as possible to email. We need you to email us ( salgalioto@tiscali.it ) so that we have your email address and to let us know if you still want a hard copy in addition. Finally we ask you to pray with us as we make our furlough preparations and the necessary preparations to leave the Jordans well situated here in our home and with the ministry. A specific prayer request would be that we could locate the right motor home in the Los Angeles area (CA) to accommodate our family. Not officially yet, but the departure will be Jan.8th 2007 the Lord willing. As you know we are very thankful to all of you that supports us prayerfully and financially for the furtherance of the gospel !!
