January-February 2007

For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself , now to appear in the presence of God for us: (Heb. 9:24).

Dear Brethren, what a blessing to know that our Lord Jesus Christ is appearing in the presence of God for us, in other words He's making us look good to our Heavenly Father! And with the help of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God we should appear in the presence of the people here for our Lord Jesus Christ; in other words, making Him look good through our personal testimony!

We thank you so much brethren for your prayers for us during the past couple of months. We arrived in the U.S. (Los Angeles) on January 9. Our flight couldn't have gone better. There were no delays, all our luggage, including the harp, arrived safely. The children all did very well on the flight and we were even able to get some sleep. We were very aware of the prayers of God's people during the whole procedure and we thank you again.

Meetings have been going very well. We have travelled through 10 States so far with meetings in 5 of those. It has been a blessing to see all of our faithful supporting pastors and churches as well as friends that we have been able to fellowship with. It is like a little taste of heaven. We are so grateful to all of you who have been with us over the years and it is a great joy to see you face to face. We are thankful for the eight new churches that we have presented the field of Sicily in and 6 of these have said that they will be colaboring with us in the days to come. It has been a blessing to see the Spirit of God at work especially among the young men. We have seen several come forward as the pastors give invitation and we are glad to report of one young man who has said that God has called him to Sicily and has asked if we needed any help. The need for laborers in Sicily still is great and it is our prayer daily that God would use our furlough to call many to the field.

We have received good news from Sicily. Bro. Jordan and Bro. Joe Sudore are doing a great job carrying on the ministry there. Chiesa Battista Dei Credenti Della Bibbia continues to hold services with both brothers preaching. The little church building has been full for most services with past converts being faithful and frequent visitors. The last service before we left Sicily, Margherita Pipitone came forward at the end of the service wanting to be saved. We and many of you all have prayed for her for many years and the family members have been saved one by one over the years. We praise God for her salvation and ask you to continue to pray for Fabio and Maria who still need to be saved. Fabio Clemente, who Bro. Joe has been dealing with, was saved recently and he has been faithful in church as well. The Jordans and Sudores are also evangelizing in 2 open air markets weekly. Recently they have had an encounter with the law telling them that they can not distribute gospel tracts. However, according to the laws, it is legal to distribute them. Please pray about this matter as they talk with the powers that be.

In future letters I will be going into more detail about some ministry plans for the future and some changes. But let me say briefly that this furlough marks a time of transition. During our last month in Sicily, Bro. Jordan, Bro. Sudore and I had several meetings where the Spirit of God was leading very clearly. Being of one accord and one mind it has been decided that the Chiesa Battista dei Credenti della Bibbia will be turned over to Bro. Joe Sudore. Presently he is getting practice in preaching and teaching in the Italian language as he and Bro. Jordan work together. We are excited about the things God is doing and the plans that he has laid on our hearts for the future. Again, I will be going into more detail in future letters, but please be in prayer for all of us during this time of transition. Pray for wisdom, guidance and counsel from the Holy Ghost. Another thing that you can pray about in particular is the need for a new building. The current building is becoming too small. We have two buildings in mind so far, with one in particular that we are asking God for. Pray with us about that.

In closing we ask you to pray for the salvation of the following sicilians that are being dealt with: Vito, Serafino, Clara and 2 brothers who work at the pharmacy. Pray for faithfulness and spiriitual growth for the believers in Sicily.

Pray for Bro. Joe to grasp the Italian language quickly. Please pray for our family as we visit our many churches, that the Lord of the harvest will call more laborers to Sicily and Italy. We ask you also to pray for our health and travelling mercies.

Brethren, we thank all of you again from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity. We look forward to seeing many more of you face to face.
